With a keen eye on the supply side of its energy consumption, Freedom Corrugated, Hazelton, PA, implemented a WPS Global system for achieving savings of upwards of 20 percent. Freedom Corrugated’s decision to install the WPS Global solution was based on its success within other Schwarz Group managed facilities.
INDEPENDENCE CORRUGATED
Independence Corrugated located south of Milwaukee, in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, is a co-operatively run sheet feeder facility, manufacturing corrugated paper for the box industry. Niagara Sheets LLC is a corrugated sheet feeder located in North Tonawanda, NY. Employing approximately 62 people, Niagara Sheets has been supplying corrugated sheets to its partner locations and outside customers since it began production mid-year 2008. The company is the result of a joint venture between Norampac Inc., Smurfit-Stone Container Corp. and Jamestown Container Companies. Smurfit-Stone Container Corporation (NASDAQ: SSCC) is one of the industry’s leading integrated containerboard and corrugated packaging producers and is one of the world’s largest paper recyclers. A subsidiary of Smurfit-Stone Corporation, Innovative Packaging Corp. (IPC) is a Milwaukee-based sheet feeder producing B-, C-, E- and G-flute board on a wide-web, two-singlefacer BHS corrugator. SPP MIAMI
Schwarz Partners Packaging (SPP), Miami, Florida, has found a unique solution to significantly reduce energy-related expenses. Following a comprehensive energy audit by WPS Global Inc., SPP Miami implemented a customized supply-side kilowatt reduction system that will result in noticeable savings within weeks. The savings will be realized in two ways: 1) reduced costs associated with sudden power loss and 2) reduced electrical usage and lower energy bills. The system also contributes to the company’s sustainability initiatives to reduce its carbon footprint.
